Great Baby gifts
OK, I'm going to try to get back into posting. Sorry for the absence but, well, I had a baby you see and like, I've been really really busy. So, here are some great baby gifts we got. Not that all of them weren't wonderful but I'm grateful for these every day.
The Skip Hop Diaper bag (thanks Matt).
This bag is great. It straps to the stroller, holds everything and is gender neutral, so Michael can carry it around without feeling like a mom.
Trumpette socks
Basically socks for newborns and infants are useless, if only for the reason that they fall off all the time. Well, these don't! They seriously stay put. I've got tons of socks for Hazel but I only put her in these.
BornFree Bottles
After the recent BPA scare (BabiesRUs is taking Avent bottles back by the way, even if they're used) these bottles have been great. I can thank my mom for this gift. I'd link to her website but she doesn't have one. I may get dirty looks from all of the breast feeding mothers (and there are seriously a lot of them) but at least Hazel isn't in danger from the bottles I'm using (and I can give the mothers using avent bottles dirty looks...just kidding).
Giggle's swaddle blanket
Finally! A stretchy swaddle blanket. This one is great, especially for a newborn...we didn't get a pink one either, it was orange, which we really liked. It's good to have something not pink (not that pink is bad but orange is a great color for the baby). So, we loved this blanket, Michael was especially attached because of the stretchyness. I lost a little bit of love for the blanket when Hazel broke 12 lbs because the blanket is rectangular and I could never get the swaddle even or wrapped all of the way around her. This really pissed me off at 3 in the morning (more than once) so...I switched to the
Ultimate Swaddle Blanket
I love love love this blanket. I really didn't think much of it until Hazel didn't fit in the giggle one anymore but once I tried it, I was hooked. She's in it right now actually. She does not break free of the swaddle in this blanket because it is large enough to wrap all of the way around her and tuck in the front.
A note on swaddling...I highly recommend it. We watched The Happiest Baby on the Block and now Hazel is sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at night. Dr. Karp shows a great way to swaddle. I read most of the book but to be honest, it's really repetative and the 15 or so minute dvd shows it all.
Well, it's way past my bedtime. Hopefully I'll be able to post at least once a week for a while and then build up to daily posts again. Nighty Night..oh wait, that reminds me, this book is great
Time for Bed
...true, it's boring, for us, but I read it to Hazel every night and she's asleep before I even finish the book.

Should be blogging
I've slowly been reducing the number of blog entries over the past month or so. I think this is due to the fact that I've got a baby in me eating my brain (those of you who know me will understand). I'll probably be on blogging break for a while now but I'll be back, one day, when my mental capacities have been returned to me. I can't say I WON'T be posting at all but I have a feeling there will be a little vacation.
Oh by the way, I'm 40 weeks +1 day, still no baby (outside of my uterus anyway). She's now as big as a pumpkin. You think that's insane? It feels even crazier. I've gotten to the end of the baby size chart so this is the last one.

This week!
I can't believe it. There's only one more food item left in this chart for me...and it's a pumpkin. I have to say, I hope I don't go that far.

Viva Terra
We got a great catalog from Viva Terra in the mail the other day. Here's a sampling of some of the things I love.
Fantasy vacations
I love taking fantasy vacations. This basically involves me finding a vacation online and not going anywhere at all. Michael thinks I'm nuts because my fantasy vacations have to be reasonably priced...what can I say, I'm a practical girl at heart.
Here's the vacation I found this week. 7 night all-inclusive club med vacation at the Sandpiper Resort (Club Med) in FL. $625/person when you book by April 30th and Travel between April 26 and November 1.

Before & After Nursery Chair
We got this chair for $5 at a flea market so I didn't feel too bad painting it, even though the unpainted wood was beautiful. The chair was just sitting in our living room serving no real purpose. Now it sits in the baby's room, as extra seating. I think the results were well worth it. Left is before, right is after. The elephant was a shower gift and was made by SewCuties.
