Kate Nash

I don't want to post everything Coudal Partners posts (ok I do, but resist, that's the important thing) however, I love this, I'm posting it, so there! She's like a cross between Lily Allen and Erin McKeown Visit Kate Nash's My Space page and website.

Love these

Reading

I was patting myself on the back for the number of books I've been reading (go me) since I launched this blog. I have always been a big reader but never actually realized (because I never kept track) that I read about a book a week (more actually). Then I saw Jessamyn West's book list. I'm really impressed. She reads a book every couple of days. Perhaps when I've been blogging for 5 years, I'll have a list like hers. She has other interesting stuff on her site...in case you're interested.

Brian Dettmer

Oh my librarian friends are going to hate this one...Brian Dettmer's altered books, sad for reading, cool for looking at. As seen on malakhi.net. Image (above) from the Aron Packer Gallery. They remind me of Su Blackwell's book sculptures (below).

Everything is recyclable

Let the Spamrecycler turn "your waste data into art".The image above is from spam (next generation of home design software - new TurboFLOORPLAN at up to 30% off) I sent in. A very cool application, see on Coudal Partners Fresh Signals.

Taking Things Seriously - Launch

Tonight is the Boston book launch for Taking Things Seriously. It's at Pazzo Books in Roslindale, MA. 7:00 p.m. to Midnight.

Darth Cheney

Clinton calls Cheney 'Darth Vader'...I don't know if I should be afraid that our politicians are literally name-calling or, if I should giggle, thought I have to say, the resemblance is striking.

Bird Nerd

Chelsea at Bird Nerd on Etsy makes these great paintings. You can read about how she does it at her website or if you prefer to wear your art, you can purchase ceramic pendants at The Charm Lady. Be sure to check out our Etsy shop while you're there.

Outhouse Orchards

YAY, it's fall again. The weather in Boston has been gorgeous. It makes me want to go apple picking, eat cider donuts and pet goats (don't ask). Anyway, I'm reminded of a place I used to go when I was little called Outhouse Orchards. Don't be afraid of the name. I was unable to locate a website (so sad) however, the do have sheep, goats, pumpkins, apples, hot cider, donuts, hayrides, dried corn for your doors....If you live in NY, I recommend going (before the season gets late and the traffic there gets horrendous)...though I guess it's best to make sure it's picking season...since I'm not a farmer.
Here's the address:

girl 1: You know humans are the only creature that continue to eat dairy after...
girl 2: ...having a baby, I know. And you know, most adults are lactose intolerant. But I dont care. I love cheese. I swear, if you put cheese on a rock...
girl 1: ...the rock would taste better, I know

Hotel dreaming

I'm working on a project right now that involves the hospitality industry. I found these amazing hotels looking at photos on Corbis. I've taken the images from the hotel websites.

This is the ICEHOTEL in Iceland. I knew about it and has seen photos in the past, this was just a reminder of how amazing it is. These photos are from winter 2007. The first is the reception area, designed by Mikael Nille Nilsson & Mark Armstrong, the second is the Club, designed by Asbestos & D*Face, and the third is Still Water designed by Liliya Pobornikova & Viktor Tzarski These images are from the Hayman Island Resort in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Beautiful setting and the hotel is designed beautifully.
