Falling behind

So much has been going on with me that I've been falling behind in my blogging duties. I'll do my best to get back on track soon. Tonight Lost premiers! Thank you god! Not that it's going to be a religious experience (should I be capitalizing god, or, God, whatever) but it will be good to see SOMETHING new and I'm interested to see what's in store for us this season...not that watching tonight will give us any clues but...anyway, I'm sure I'll have something to say about it tomorrow. Missed the preview (though I don't know how) you can check it out here.

The Perfect Stroller

Michael and I have been exploring the world of strollers. According to my sister, the stroller will be the most important purchase we make (ever?). It's a big world out there, with lots of features, accessories, requirements, reviews...ugh seriously it's overwhelming.

Here is Michael's solution along with a list of pros and cons.

PROS:
They're free (if you steal one)
They fit any car seat
We can keep it outside
The bums can use it when we're not using it
It serves a dual purpose if we are broke and need to collect cans and bottles to pay for child care

CONS:
no cup holder

It's definitely something to think about.

Another gorgeous (unaffordable) chandelier on ebay

Again, I can't afford this but it sure is nice. Remember the other one I posed a while ago. If anyone knows where to get something like this for less than $500 I'd love to know about it.

re-covered

Michael did a great job recovering our reproduction Eames chair (ours is on the right). We went to The Fabric Place a few weeks ago to get new fabric for our headboard and this chair. If you ever need fabric and are in the Boston area the Framingham location is the best.

BabyToupee

Thanks to Matt (again!) for entertaining me with this product, the baby toupee. Shown here is "The Donald".

Aye-Aye (yay-ya-ya)

Saw this little guy in the Metro this morning. Brings back the days when they used to have funny animal stories. I miss those. Also in today's Metro, Kitty Wigs (I knew it would catch on).

Parents

My parents are in India right now. I received this e-mail correspondence from my parents (forwarded through my sister):
Easy trip. Cows in the street. Lots of dust. All is well. Forward to Erica.

And a response from my sister:
I think mom gets confused between email and
telegraphs. Does she know you don't get charged by the
letter?

Loading a Dishwasher - Martha Style

OK, there are some people who are going to be able to relate to this and some who are going to think I'm totally insane. I can't say how many times I've opening a dishwasher and had the dishes still be dirty because they weren't loaded properly (large dishes blocking the water from smaller dishes etc). Now, thanks to Martha Stewart's "Dishwasher Strategy", we can all know the RIGHT way to load a dishwasher. (No offense Michael, you're wonderful and this is not aimed at you, I think I get this from my father). For instance, Martha recommends "staggering large plates with small ones, and put large cookware and pots and pans along the sides" and if "using a model with a basket, you should alternate your silverware pieces, one piece pointing up, the next down, etc." I don't know about you, but I feel a lot better now. Oh, and it looks like dishwasher in the photo I have posted here, is loaded completely WRONG. Shame on you! Read the "Dishwasher Strategy".
